Recently it was revealed that a Russian hacker sold online nearly 33 million Twitter passwords. This hack included nearly 1 out of every 10th Twitter user. It was a massive leak. Even the Twitter accounts of singer Katy Perry and Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg were also hacked. However, Mark Zuckerberg account was recovered after an immense effort by Facebook security team. Twitter management categorically denied that security of its company was breached. They basically explained that the breach of security came from other sources. Many people are linking this scam with LinkedIn and Myspace breaches. Many users keep the same password for different accounts. Therefore, Twitter security team believes that people having same or similar password of different accounts felt victim of this hack. It must be noted that more than million passwords of LinkedIn were put on sale online from 2012.

Make Long passwords
Long passwords are always hard to break. You can also see while making new ID on some websites that they recommend you to make long passwords. Hacking group of Twitter account revealed that the password of Mark Zuckerburg account was “dadada.” It is quite a simple and small password which can be easily broken.
Avoid family names and addresses
Always remember that if a hacker knows you, he will always try the name of you or your family members in password. Avoid such information. Even addresses are also easy to break. Use password that anyone else cannot predict.
Do not keep same password for all accounts
Keeping same password for all accounts is the biggest mistake that we all make. If one password is known all other accounts go at risk. It is difficult for us to remember 10 or 20 different passwords at one time. However, we can always try to make passwords a little different from each other. We can add numeric or capital letters in the same type passwords. It will keep the password similar but different at the same time.

Simple alphabetical passwords are the most easiest to break. According to one expert, such passwords can be cracked down through some software within a span of 10 seconds. However, numeric digits followed by cap words are difficult to be broken. You can start or end your password with your favorite song name and add numeric digit later. You can also add one special character just to make it safer.
Keep changing passwords even by a single letter after 6 months
It is considered as one the best practice to keep changing your password after sometime. Many corporations have taken such security measures in order to ensure their data remain secure. You do not have to change it completely, you can just change one digit or letter, so that it is easy for you to remember your new password.
